Behavioral Services

Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital's Behavioral Services department provides comprehensive mental health programs and services to adults. The programs and services are fully supported by the hospital's medical, surgical and diagnostic consultants and are executed in close collaboration with community health providers.

Inpatient Rehab

A 38-bed inpatient adult psychiatric unit provides comprehensive care. Treatment aims focus on identifying patient conflicts, and initiating the process of resolving them. Discharged patients are provided with individually-tailored care plans that help them transition to their next stage of wellness.

Care for the Elderly

The Adult Psychiatric Specialty Unit offers geriatric patients a short-term, intense therapeutic program designed to meet their psychiatric and physical needs. This specialized program for the elderly is comprised of a team of experienced, licensed professionals who work with older persons who may have dementia, depression, bi-polar disease, anxiety disorders or schizophrenia.

A typical day on the unit provides the patient with group therapy, nursing education groups, functional occupational therapy groups, recreational groups and chemical dependency groups, if warranted. These groups are geared to improve the individual's ability to function. A strong clinical component works with the patient and their families to determine the best discharge plan and follow-up care.
